Annie Laurie's Antiques - Expect the Unexpected

June 2010
What can I say...I looooove summer.  I am not working as much as I usually do, I am taking it easy, but most importantly I am having fun.  We took Fletcher to The City Museum in St. Louis and it was amazing.  I can honestly say-that is what my personal Heaven will look like.  We also went to The Zoo, but it was sooo hot that the animals were all hiding.  We have a Family Night Float Trip planned and  a wine excersion coming up.  Whoohoo....it's finally summer!

May 2010
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.   School is out for summer and I just finished the Downtown Historic Home Tour.  It was an amazing success, but there was a lot of preparation that was involved.  The house had to be impeccable and there were hundreds of people that came through.  The good news is that I will not have to clean for awhile.  For those of you that missed it, I don't want you to feel left out, so I took a few pictures.

April 2010
I just finished up a photo shoot with my dear friend Michelle, with untamedheartphotography.com  The pictures turned out better than I had ever imagined.  She really knows how to capture the moment and blows me away every time.  Watch for more pics on Facebook and the website.  In May, Michelle and I will be teaming up for a vintage wedding.  Can't wait to show it to you.

March 2010
Long fabulous days, less stress, enjoying the moment-these are all the things that I love about spring.  There is an unexplainable emotional that takes over my body when the sun is shining and the weather starts to warm up.  It is like I am coming out of a long hibernation.  It increases my motivation to do just about anything.  I opened the windows today and let the wind blow all the papers off my desk and I didn't even care.  Normally I would be annoyed, but nothing can get me down right now.  I also just cracked open a cold one and just sat and reflected on the day.  Not something that is normally in my vocabulary-sitting that is.  I can't wait for the many more beautiful days to come.

February 2010
Not sure where the time is going, but it is quickly passing by.  I find myself getting antsy about spring.  I get that feeling in my body, that is filled with excitement and desire for the warmth of the sun.   I am ready to not have to put  on a coat, but instead throw on my flip flops...or no shoes at all.  The birds are singing to me, telling me that my wish is near.  Spring:  open the windows, wear a sheer sundress, drink a cold beer and let the sunlight warm your skin.

December 2009
We just had First Friday and we were fortunate enough to have Jefferson Fox perform live.  Jefferson's lyrical genius, compelling voice and quirky but beautiful guitar playing made this record an amazing work that will be remembered as a musical masterpiece for years to come. The songs and recordings range broadly in texture and style but maintain uniformity in their thoughtfulness, musical beauty and sonic excellence.  Check out his website at jeffersonmfox.com

October 19th
I had the pleasure of meeting a burly man yesterday.  He came in the shop wearing coveralls and he faintly resembled Santa Claus.  He had sky blue eyes and extremely white teeth (his tooth brush was in his front pocket).  His name was Deck and he was traveling by canoe from Minnesota.  I know folks...I just can't make this stuff up.

Yesterday, I took some shots of one of Cape's oldest cemetaries-Lorimer Cemetary.  Most people would feel creeped out at a place like this, but I felt very much at peace.  It was freezing outside and there
was an overcast, so it created some beautiful shots.

Oct 5, 2009
Fall is in the air.  I am excited about Halloween costumes, pumpkins and harvest season.  This is my favorite time of year.  I love to wear a pair of jeans with a cozy sweater.  This weekend is Homecoming and I anticipate a lot of people coming in.  I am already starting to sell Christmas, but don't want to rush the rest of the holidays.  I hope to go out buying this weekend, so be checking for new merchandise.  See you soon!
